Hellllllooooo All!
I cannot believe it’s been over 2 years since I’ve posted to this blog. Well, I guess reading the last entry, it shouldn’t be that much of a surprise. However, if you’ve been following me and African Stretch Fabrics all the while, you know that there’s been at least a tiny heartbeat in the brand since the last post. If you haven’t, well let me get you caught up !
The last post was March 18, 2018. For the rest of that year, I continued to sell the rest of my inventory until it was pretty much depleted. However, I continued to receive emails, comments on Facebook, and messages on Etsy inquiring about fabrics. Do I have any left? Will I ever restock such and such? I honestly don’t even remember what I said to all of those messages- “Not right now”? “ I’m sold out”? “I’ve completely thrown in the towel”? What I do remember is the few times where someone inquired about a fabric and I actually got it manufactured. I tested the waters- ordering one fabric here, and one fabric there. And just sold them through Etsy very sporadically.
I finally got to the point where so many people were asking, that I began to feel like I was really dropping the ball for everyone. I started something with African Stretch Fabrics that people came to expect - rely on, even - and I was kind of letting them down. So, I started to brainstorm on how to get things back on track and relaunch. I decided on Kickstarter.
Kickstarter was an idea I floated to my little community here before, but I finally decided to dig in after my wonky 2-year hiatus. Enter, my current Kickstarter campaign. It took months to plan, was delayed more by CoVid19, but has ultimately come to fruition. The process leading up to hitting that “Launch Now” button was highly involved and took a good amount of effort. But I am so happy with the collection my little team of designers and I have been able to create. I believe in all the rewards and of course the quality of the product I am providing.
I am so excited to start this journey again, and this time, I’m here for the long-haul. My vision for African Stretch Fabrics has evolved and grown and I have so many new ideas and products that I want to incorporate into the mix going forward. Even during this time of great uncertainty in the world as a whole, things ahead are looking bright. We’ve got no choice but to be as optimistic is possible and do what we can to embrace our new normal and maintain our happiness. And that includes our creativity! I hope you guys stay tuned while I get this thing up and running again. There’s so much more in store!
